To achieve this vision, we are in search of a talented technical leader and craftsman who builds robust software that scales as well as client-facing features which are intuitive and simple to use.
Our team takes a world view of payments for all of Amazon and builds highly customized and seamless payment experiences for our global customers. This focus on customer and geography requires working on different technologies and back-end platform systems in order to meet the needs of our customers. Our back-end systems are always available and guarantee that our customer’s orders are never lost and always processed even when downstream services are down. You will have a chance to understand and influence Amazon's Stack across Retail and Digital business.
Our team is highly motivated and in need of a senior engineer who can take the technical reigns of the team and steer them in the direction of our vision.
As a Data Engineer, you will analyze large amounts of business data, solve real world problems, and develop metrics and business cases that will enable us to continually delight our customers worldwide. You will also work with a team of Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Software Engineers to automate and scale the analysis, and to make the data more actionable to manage business at scale. You will own many large datasets, production pipelines, automate anomaly detection model, ML data models, implement new data pipelines that feed into or from critical data systems at Amazon
Position Responsibilities:
- Work closely with senior engineers to model, implement data pipelines that feed into or from data systems on Payments across our retail and digital business.
- Own the delivery of data modelling and data pipelines.
- Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments
- Assist directly and indirectly in the continual hiring and development of technical talent.
- Create and execute appropriate quality plans, project plans, test strategies and processes for development activities in concert with business and project management efforts.
The ideal candidate will be a leader, quick learner and be able to work independently. He/she should be able to operate in a very fast paced environment where time to hit market is super critical. The candidate will need to balance technical leadership and savvy with business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices.

Key job responsibilities:
- 5+ years of data engineering experience
- Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing
- 5+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
